SUMMARY:Kenny Scharf Book & Signing Event
DESCRIPTION:BEYOND THE STREETS and Jeffrey Deitch presents the new 200 + page book KARBOMBZ! from Kenny Scharf book release and signing – February 21 at Village Car Wash in Los Angeles. Kenny Scharf’s KARBOMBZ! started accidentally in 2013 in Alabama and lasted for ten years. He thought there was nothing more boring than a traffic jam and set out to change that. Scharf inspired—and continues to inspire smiles around the world by transforming hundreds of people’s cars in under 30 minutes. \n“One of the things I love to do is take ordinary things and elevate them through the simple act of painting them. It is my rebellion against the given\,” Scharf says. \n“Kenny Scharf’s Karbombz are an essential part of the visual culture of Los Angeles. Driving a Karbomded car\, or seeing one on the street\, you are part of the art\,” says Jeffrey Deitch. \nThe new book KARBOMBZ! published by BEYOND THE STREETS features more than 600 images and is designed to look as though it came straight out of an early-2000s Photoshop / QuarkXPress mashup—complete with homages to car advertising and Auto Trader magazine. \nScharf will celebrate the release of the book with an in person signing event fittingly at Village Car Wash\, the site of one of his newest murals from 12-4pm on February 21st . The event is free to attend\, and books will be available on site for purchase. \nKenny Scharf’s KARBOMBZ! Book Release & Signing \nSaturday\, February 21\,2026 | 12-4pm

SUMMARY:San Diego Tết Festival
DESCRIPTION:Year of the Fire HorseNăm Bính Ngọ \n\n \n\n2026 is the year of the Fire Horse in the Vietnamese zodiac. The year of the Fire Horse begins on February 17\, 2026\, and ends on February 5\, 2027. \nFire Horses (1966\, 2026) are energetic\, independent\, and adventurous. They possess strong leadership qualities and are known for their passion and determination. Fire Horses are natural risk-takers who thrive on challenges and are not afraid to pursue their dreams with vigor. \nHorses are known for their free-spirited nature and love of travel. They are social creatures who enjoy being around others and are often the life of the party. Horses work best when given freedom and independence\, and they excel in careers that allow them to express their creativity and leadership. Good career choices for Horses include entrepreneur\, explorer\, athlete\, performer\, journalist\, and salesperson. \nAccording to the Vietnamese zodiac\, the Horse matches the Tiger and Dog the most. Those at their Fire Horse age can wear clothes with red\, orange\, yellow\, and green colors to obtain more fortune and money. On the other hand\, they should avoid incompatible colors\, including blue and black. Lucky numbers are 3\, 4\, and 9. \n\n\n\n\nTết Nguyên ĐánVietnamese New Year \n\n\nTết Nguyên Đán (Vietnamese New Year) is Vietnam’s most important festival. Based on the lunar calendar\, it typically falls between mid-January and late February\, coinciding with Chinese New Year. \nThis family-centered celebration traditionally spans 3-7 days\, during which families reunite\, share festive meals\, and exchange New Year’s greetings. The name “Tết Nguyên Đán” refers to the feast of the first morning of the lunar calendar. \nIn Vietnam\, most people receive five days off to travel home and celebrate with extended family\, making it the year’s most significant family gathering. \nBefore Tết \nBefore Tết\, Vietnamese families clean their homes to sweep away bad luck and bad spirits. They also prepare special foods and gifts for guests and relatives. \nDuring Tết \nDuring Tết\, Vietnamese families prepare a special feast to welcome visiting relatives and friends\, exchange greetings and best wishes for the New Year. The first day of Tet\, however\, is typically reserved for the nuclear family. On this day\, children will receive red envelopes with money from their older relatives. \nAfter Tết \nAfter Tết\, families visit pagodas and temples to pray for good luck and prosperity in the new year. \nDecorations for Tết \nDecorations for Tết feature red and gold colors symbolizing prosperity. Common items include paper lanterns\, dragons\, flowers\, and traditional plants. Peach blossoms and kumquat trees are popular in northern Vietnam\, while yellow Mai flowers are preferred in central and southern regions. These plants symbolize fertility and good fortune for the coming year. \nHow to say “Happy New Year” in Vietnamese \nIn Vietnamese\, the phrase “Chúc mừng năm mới” (Chúc mừng = Happy\, năm = year\, mới = new) is commonly used to convey wishes for a prosperous new year. The phrase is pronounced as “Chook moong nahm moi.”

SUMMARY:2026 Tet Parade
DESCRIPTION:History and Cultural Significance \nThe Tet Parade is a grandiose event that has celebrated the Lunar New Year in Little Saigon for over two decades. Every year Vietnamese communities across the globe tune in to watch the event broadcasted by local TV stations and social media platforms. The Tet Parade features floats\, marching bands\, lion dances\, color guards\, veterans and youth organizations\, martial arts\, multi-cultural attires\, elected officials\, scout organizations\, community organizations\, and an array of local and international businesses. \nThe City of Westminster will be hosting the 2026 Westminster Tet Parade.  As in prior years the purpose is not only to celebrate the Lunar New Year\, but to celebrate the Vietnamese-American community of Orange County centered in Little Saigon. The Vietnamese-Americans living in Westminster and the surrounding cities are the largest community of Vietnamese-Americans outside of Vietnam. This community consists largely of those who were forced to flee their country as a result of the communist takeover in the Vietnam War. The Westminster Tet Parade is the City’s primary opportunity each year to celebrate this community\, including their beliefs\, traditions and all that they represent.
