SUMMARY:MATT VON RODERICK BAND
DESCRIPTION:Inhabiting the rarified air of innovative jazz trumpeter and heart-centered crooner\, Matt Von Roderick has been hailed as “a post-millennial Chet Baker” by the New York Times and “a top-drawer trumpeter who also sings like an angel obscured by a storm cloud” by JazzTimes Magazine. \n  \nMatt’s uplifting message and poignant sound have been featured among the world’s most celebrated venues\, including Carnegie Hall\, Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. If you can imagine a one-of-a-kind trumpet virtuosity paired with dreamy vocals\, deeply authentic jazz roots and soaring soundscapes\, you’re beginning to conjure the artistry of Matt Von Roderick. \n  \nVon Roderick has enjoyed working with many of the most respected names in jazz and beyond\, including Brad Mehldau\, Kenny Werner\, Antonio Sanchez\, Chris Potter\, Neil Diamond\, Dionne Warwick and The Saturday Night Live Band. Von Roderick and his clarion tone have appeared in numerous film and television spots including SNL and The Ellen Show\, as well as at events with best-selling author and spiritual activist Marianne Williamson. Matt was named the 1st place winner of The Independent Music Awards Jazz Category as judged by progressive Rock icon Lou Reed\, awarded as finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition\, and was a recipient of the Vilar Global Fellowship\, dubbed the “Rhodes Scholarship” of the performing arts by The New York Times. \n  \nVon Roderick often combines his classic\, lush tones with adventurous vocal/trumpet multiphonics\, a dash of loops and contemporary spoken word to create what the International Trumpet Guild calls “exquisite”\, while Downbeat Magazine describes his musical approach as being “Zen-like”. \n  \nMatt Von Roderick prioritizes the spiritual aspects of music. He genuinely loves his audiences — it is his great joy to bring you joy.

SUMMARY:Chris Dave X Marcus King X Cory Henry X DJ Ginyard
DESCRIPTION:Chris Dave\n\nThere’s a good chance you’ve heard Chris Dave play drums\, even if you didn’t know it was him. Over the last 20 years\, the Houston-born percussionist\, bandleader\, and producer has played with some of the most revered names in jazz and R&B\, offering his unique drumming style to songs by D’Angelo\, Justin Bieber\,The Robert Glasper Experiment\, and Adele. \nThe Roots’s bandleader Ahmir Questlove Thompson once called Dave “the most dangerous drummer alive\,” a characterization that Dave playfully dismisses. “I don’t believe that at all\,” he deadpanned during a recent interview. Maybe that’s why he endures: He lets the work speak for itself. And his music is so resonant that it does just that. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarcus King\n\nMarcus King faces heartache\, addiction\, and mental health head-on in his music. Pain quakes below the vibrato of his voice\, and his delivery weighs heavy with booze-drenched regrets and mistakes in lonely hotels. The GRAMMY® nominated fourth generation musician from Greenville\, SC\, started playing guitar at 8-years-old following in the footsteps of his guitarist Father and Grandpa. Logging thousands of miles on the road as “The Marcus King Band\,” he established himself with unparalleled performance prowess. \nDuring 2020\, he linked up with Dan Auerbach and cut his solo debut El Dorado\, garnering a GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Americana Album. ”Between headlining venues\, he performed alongside Chris Stapleton\, Greta Van Fleet\, and Nathanial Rateliff in addition to gracing the bills of Stagecoach and more. He has launched various mental health initiatives\, including a guitar auction collaboration with MusiCares. \nNow\, his 2024 album Mood Swings feels like the moment of baptism when water washes away a life’s worth of sins and degradation and all that’s left is a revived\, yet still real-as-hell primal scream. It’s as if King strained raw soul straight from his gut up through that broken heart andon to the record under the watchful eye of Rick Rubin. \nEmphasizing his vocals front-and-center more than ever before\, the trusty guitar he’s so often associated with plays the sideman this time around (thoughthere’s no shortage of impressive shredding). For as dark as everything seemed\, you can’t help but feel a sense of hope in the power of Marcus’s voice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCory Henry\n\nSimply put Cory Henry is a Grammy Award Winning Artist\, Composer\, Producer\, Multi-instrumentalist\, all around keyboard master\, and is the future of music! \nIn 2021\, Cory’s album Something to Say was nominated at the 2022 Grammy Awards for Best Progressive Album and as a co-writer and producer on Kanye West’s Donda and Eric Bellinger’s New Light. Other collaborations include: Imagine Dragons\, Rosalia\, Smino\, Lucky Daye\, and many more.Cory was previously a member of Snarky Puppy\, and during his time in the band he garnered three Grammy Awards! \nMost recently Cory’s latest masterpiece\, Operation Funk\, has garnered attention from fans all over the world as he delivered sold out shows in Israel\, Spain\, Amsterdam\, Australia\, and throughout the United States along with playing most of the major music festivals. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDJ Ginyard

SUMMARY:Star Theatre Presents\, “Something Rotten”
DESCRIPTION:Two brothers set out to write the world’s first musical in this hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first-century Broadway.  Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous\, crowd-pleasing musical farce\, Something Rotten.  Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick\, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell\, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike\, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years”.  Set in the 1590s\, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing\, dancing and acting at the same time\, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night\, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self\, and all that jazz.
