SUMMARY:Dean Grech
DESCRIPTION:As with many artists of his caliber\, Grech’s music career and his long road to success started at a young age. Grech began his devotion to music and guitar at age 7. He played his first paying gig at age 11. His dedication only increased when he took lessons from world-renowned classical guitarist\, and Decca recording artist\, Rey Delatorre at the age of 14. With the advanced technique that comes with classical training\, Dean later found his niche playing jazz and emulating guitarists who would become Grech’s guide to improv in the years to come. His interest started with a gift. Grech’s jazz influence can be traced back to a friend of the family who gave him a stack of records. In that stack\, Grech found “Kaleidoscope” by Johnny Smith and “Boss Guitar” by Wes Montgomery. The passion was placed. The sounds of these two guitar players haunted Grech relentlessly from that point on. \nWith those records\, Dean locked himself in his room and practice for hours on end. While most kids set their sights on Saturday morning television\, Grech set his sights to play jazz as a profession. His friends from those days remind him. Tha’?s all he talked about\, they say today. At the chagrin of Delatorre\, who envisioned Grech to be a great classical player someday in his footsteps\, those jazz records essentially ended Grech’s classical guitar career. Jazz music opened the door to improvisation he loved more. Grech never looked back. Within the next few years\, Dean began to perfect his jazz improv technique through hours of practice in his room and with engagements he played professionally at a young age. Determined to follow his path at 19\, Grech went on to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. At college\, his passion for jazz\, and music in general\, solidified his pursuit to follow a music career. He’s never done anything else. \nThrough the next few decades after school\, Dean fulfilled many dreams. Dean would go on to tour with original and cover groups who played locally and worldwide. Later\, his work could also be found on television and movie soundtracks. Grech would have success as a songwriter for various American and European artists. He was employed by The Walt Disney Company and traveled with their world tours and for their park in Anaheim for seven years. It was after many years of stage work\, Grech turned to his biggest dream. Performing and recording original jazz content became a reality. Finding success with a jazz Christmas tune that received radio play\, producers encouraged Dean to compose his first album. Grech went to work. He has since completed three albums\, “Look Out” and “We Got Lost.” His third album\, “Back in Time” is hitting the airwaves in April of 2021.

SUMMARY:An Evening with The Beta Band
DESCRIPTION:The Beta Band\, as everyone knows\, is an institution\, like Arkham\, or the Brooklyn Zoo\, and as such has its own indelible stain on the bedsheet of Western culture. It was the great Mr Rogers who said “you have to shake it out at least once every couple of decades\, if you want to know what the moths did”. So with both of those facts in mind\, we realise the time has come to show the wall the Luminol\, kill the lights and hit the UV.

SUMMARY:Labit - SOL Album Release Show
DESCRIPTION:My sophomore album\, SOL\, is finally out. I held this project close to my heart all year\, and now it’s finally yours.\n\n\n…\n\n\nI don’t even know where to start.\n\n\nI wrote this album as my self-discovery journal over the last few years as I navigated through relationships\, adulthood\, and trying to make a living in a way too expensive city. The through line for me has always been how I approach the highs and lows. That approach is largely because of how my grandma\, Solita (Sol for short)\, and how the rest of my family\, raised me.\n\n\nI named the album after my Grandma Sol because I realized how much she taught me growing up. Her lessons are littered throughout the album\, some more apparent than others. She taught me patience\, how to see both sides\, and how to lead with love. There was nothing better than hanging out at her apartment after school and just talking to her. Listening to her brother’s tape of him playing classical guitar and hearing how much she loved hearing him play. I won’t ever know what she thinks of this project\, but hopefully she thinks it’s slaps lol.\n\n\nNow\, this album is all yours. I hope you find what you’re looking for listening to these songs \n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/labitmusic/

SUMMARY:An Evening With HAIM
DESCRIPTION:The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome HAIM to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for an evening celebrating their latest album\, I quit\, with a discussion about their creative process. There will be a special live performance to follow. The fourth full-length from multiplatinum trio HAIM\, I quit is a monument to the unmatched power in unapologetically shedding what’s holding you back. Since the release of Women in Music Pt. III—a 2020 LP that made them the first all-female rock group ever to earn a GRAMMY nomination for Album of the Year—Southern California sisters Este\, Danielle\, and Alana Haim have deliberately done away with the habits and circumstances that dragged them down\, instead choosing the thrill and expansion of new experience. Born from a creative transformation they refer to as “becoming the band we’ve always wanted to be\,” I quit reveals the wildly sweeping impact of that self-reclamation—ultimately arriving as HAIM’s boldest and most unbridled body of work to date. As Alana explains\, I quit’s title surfaced from a longtime inside joke inspired by the 1996 movie That Thing You Do!. “For years we’ve always said ‘I quit’ when we check the mic\, and while we were recording this album we named the files I quit on a whim\,” she recalls. “But as the writing progressed\, we realized every single song has a theme of quitting something that isn’t working for us anymore. Now it feels like an incredibly beautiful title\, because quitting means a new beginning. Sometimes you need to quit to make room for great things to happen.” Co-produced by HAIM’s frequent collaborator Rostam Batmanglij and Danielle Haim\, I quit expands on the potent and daringly fluid sound of WIMPIII—a widely lauded album that landed on best-of-the-year lists from the likes of Pitchfork\, Rolling Stone\, and NPR\, with lead single “The Steps” scoring a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rock Performance. “With WIMPIII it felt like we’d cracked open the door to sounding exactly how we’ve always wanted to sound\, but with I quit the door was fully open\,” says Alana. Recorded at Batmanglij’s studio and at the historic Valentine Recording Studios in HAIM’s homeland of the San Fernando Valley\, the new album elegantly merges the power trio’s combustible live performance with plenty of in-the-box experimentation on the part of Danielle\, who also co-produced WIMPIII and HAIM’s gold-certified\, GRAMMY-nominated 2013 debut LP Days Are Gone. “We’ve always loved capturing that sound of us banging on drums in an open room\, but then also exploring what happens when you plug HAIM into a computer\,” says Danielle. “It’s a dynamic that’s intrigued us since the first album\, but now we’re so much more well-versed in the studio and can play with that even more.” HAIM are on a North American headlining tour\, with UK dates to follow in October. “brimming with bangers” 4 stars Rolling Stone “HAIM continue their mission to create their own universe of California rock with I quit” Pitchfork “masters of their craft\, pushing their dexterous songwriting and playful indie-rock sound in rich\, exciting new directions”
